Hawks Exercise Option on Larry Drew
It was announced today that the Atlanta Hawks have exercised Head Coach Larry Drew's option for the 2012-13 NBA season. Coach Drew was initially signed to a two-year head coaching contract at the conclusion of the 2009-10 NBA season, replacing former coach Mike Woodson. Coach Drew had already spent six years as a head assistant under Mike Woodson, and that was following a 10-year NBA playing career. Over two seasons as the head coach of the Hawks, Coach Drew has compiled an 84-64 record. I think this was a good move by General Manager Rick Sund. I have been a fan of Coach Drew since he took over for Coach Woodson. He is always very professional, and doesn't have a tendency to get technicals. I don't think it would've been possible for the Hawks to have had the fourth-best record in the East this year with injuries to all three centers on the roster with a coach of lesser talent drawing up the plays. I am excited to see Coach Drew back with the Hawks next season.
