It was announced today by Atlanta Hawks general manager Danny Ferry that the Hawks have re-signed Ivan Johnson. The 6'8" power forward spent his rookie season with the Hawks last year, where he averaged 6.4 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game. Johnson played college ball for four different programs prior to beginning his pro basketball career in the NBA D-League and overseas before joining the NBA. The Hawks added him to their team as a free agent after a successful performance in the preseason. He took home April 2012's Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. I think this was a great move by the Hawks to re-sign Johnson. They had already extended him a qualifying offer, but now that they cleared up a roster jam at power forward by requesting waivers on Jordan Williams, they finalized this deal. He brings so much energy off the bench. He should be an extremely effective backup power forward to Josh Smith. I am glad to have Johnson back on the team, and I wish him luck in his future with the Hawks.
