Hawks vs. Jazz Preview
The Atlanta Hawks will take on the Detroit Pistons tonight on the road at the Energy Solutions Arena. This will be the third game of a six-game road trip for the Hawks. This will also be the second and final of two meetings between these two teams this regular season. With a win tonight, the Hawks would improve to 33-23 on the season, 3-0 on their road trip, and 2-0 in the regular season series with the Jazz. The probable starters for the Hawks tonight are Jeff Teague and DeShawn Stevenson in the backcourt, Kyle Korver and Josh Smith at the two forward positions, and Al Horford at center. Louis Williams (torn ACL, right knee) is listed as out. Zaza Pachulia (sore right Achilles) is listed as day-to-day. I think the key to a win tonight for the Hawks is denying the ball inside. The Jazz average the seventh most points in the paint in the league. However, they rank 25th in the NBA in percentage of points off of three-pointers, scoring only just more that 18% of their points from deep. Therefore, the Hawks guards can focus on denying the ball inside, and while they will have to be careful about threes, they won't have to focus as much on the Utah's guards beyond the arc. If the Hawks can limit the Jazz's points in the paint, I think they can get a W tonight to stay undefeated hallway through the road trip.
