Preview of the Hawks vs. Pacers game on 12-29-12
The Atlanta Hawks will take on the Indiana Pacers tonight at home at Philips Arena. This will be the second game of a back-to-back set for the Hawks. With a win tonight, the Hawks would improve to 19-9 on the season, 2-0 in the regular season series with the Pacers, and 2-0 in their back-to-back set. The probable starters for the Hawks tonight are Jeff Teague and Louis Williams in the backcourt, Kyle Korver and Josh Smith at the two forward positions, and Al Horford at center. Josh Smith (strained right hip flexor) is listed as a game-time decision. Al Horford (right hip contusion) is listed as probable. Ivan Johnson (stomach flu) is also listed as probable. Devin Harris (sore left foot) is listed as doubtful. Anthony Morrow (right hip strain) is listed as doubtful as well. It is a good sign that both Josh Smith and Al Horford are listed in the probable starters. I wish all five guys on the injury report quick recoveries. I think the key to a win for the Hawks tonight is boxing out. The Pacers lead the league in rebounds per game, and they have two guys in their frontcourt (David West and Roy Hibbert) who have made All-Star appearances. It will be tough if Smith, Horford, and/or Johnson don't play, but the Hawks need to make it a priority to box out and crash the boards whether or not those guys are on the court. If the Hawks can outrebound the Pacers, I think they can get a W tonight at home.
