No Hawks were selected for the All-Star team, but the Hawks will still be well-represented this year in Houston. It was announced that both Jeff Teague and Dominique Wilkins will participate in State Farm All-Star Saturday Night, with Teague being selected for the Taco Bells Skills Challenge and Wilkins being selected for the Sears Shooting Stars competition. Teague becomes the first Hawks player to be selected for the Skills Challenge since it was introduced at All-Star Weekend in Atlanta in 2003. He will join Jrue Holiday (Philadelphia), Brandon Knight (Detroit), Damian Lillard (Portland), Jeremy Lin (Houston), and reigning champion Tony Parker (San Antonio). Teague's dribbling, passing, and shooting skills will be put to the test against some of the other young point guards in the league. Teague, who is in the midst of the best season of his career so far, definitely deserved this selection. Dominique Wilkins, the Atlanta Hawks' all-time leading scorer, will participate in a new format of the Shooting Stars competition. "Team Atlanta" won this competition back in 2011, with a team featuring Steve Smith, Al Horford, and Coco Miller, but this new format will pit two Eastern Conference teams featuring current NBA players, current WNBA players, and NBA legends against two Western Conference teams with their rosters made up the same way. State Farm All-Star Saturday Night will take place on Saturday, February 16 at 8pm and can be seen on TNT. Good luck to Teague and Wilkins!
